Translate a Poem

Postby zackxx » Tue Aug 04, 2009 4:26 am

Would anyone care to have a go translating this excerpt from a poem by a famous Thai poet?

หนาวน้ำค้างกลางคืนสะอื้นอ้อน
จะกางกรกอดน้องประคองขวัญ
เอาดวงดาราระยับกับพระจันทร์
ต่างช่อชั้นชวาลาระย้าย้อย

Translate a Poem

Khun Zackxx,

What do you want the translation for? It's just a tiny part of a long sotry poem.

If you just want to know the meaning of this part and don't be interested in other parts, then, this is the translation;

If you feel cold from the dew at night, I will embrace you in my arms, and take the twinkly stars and moon as a chandelier.

It might not sound so beautiful as it is in Thai, but this is the best I can do. :D

here's my version with rhyme...

Shrouded by the cold dewy night
Rest your head within my warm embrace
We'll take the moon and stars and their shining light
As lanterns to guide us to an enchanted place
