Why is there an "excuse me" in this sentence?

Hello, in this example, why is there a "im sorry/excuse me" in the phrase?


สวัสดีครับ ผมชื่อประภาสขอโทษ คุณชื่ออะไรครับ


the translation shown is : "Hello. My name is Prapat. What is your name?" and doesnt conatin "excuse me/sorry" in the translation

I think that ขอโทษ is more polite to introduce the question, and the sentence should be parsed like this :

สวัสดีครับ ผมชื่อประภาส
ขอโทษ คุณชื่ออะไรครับ
