I think that Khun Pirin's transcription is a brilliant rendering. The Thai word "ญาณ" means "insight, sixth sense".

อํานาจสมาธิ, ความสามารถหยั่งรู้เป็นพิเศษ. (.; . ชฺ?าน).]

In real life we see this root often in the word "วิจารณญาญ" which means "intelligence, judgment, good sense." The bearer of this name should consider him or herself lucky to have such a great Thai name as a transcription and I want to thank Pirin for providing this information.

เพิร์ลี่ given it a falling tome for no other reason than that's what tends to happens with foreign names.
