I believe the following characters are Thai?

I was hoping someone could tell me if that is true and what they mean?

It is Thai, mostly numbers. ก.ท. 65058

I don't know what the ก.ท. stands for, but it's an abbreviation of some kind.

The characters appear on the butt stock of an old SxS German hunting gun which was manufactured in 1930 and sent to Thailand or Indonesia.

Now that I know the numbers...I will try to figure out the meaning of the abbreviation in front of them.

That's really like asking what English letter Greek chi is equal to, with some of the bad characteristics of asking about Greek phi.

The simple one-letter transliteration would be "k.t.". If you follow the rules of the Royal Thai General System [of transliteration], you would get "k.th.". Should you encounter the use of the graphical system (preferred by royalty), you would get "k.d.". In names of forms, the short names of letters are transliterated according to the English pronunciation, so you would get "kor thor".

Toffeeman suggested "g.t.", but I think the 'g' is unlikely. English speakers have trouble pronouncing the word-initial Thai sound /k/, but if they mispronounce it as a hard English 'g' they can be understood, whereas if they mispronouncing it as an English 'k', Thais will usually hear the Thai sound /kʰ/, which is represented by different letters. (The choice of letter depends on tone and etymology.)

ก.ท. can be an abbreviations for กรุงเทพฯ = Krungthep 'Bangkok'. Nowadays, one normally sees the abbreviation กทม. for Bangkok. The ม = 'm' abbreviates the next phrase in the full name of the city, มหานคร = mahanakhon 'great city'.

กองทัพ means 'army' I am not sure if ก.ท. With the dots is an abbreviation for a division or part of an army which would then be numbered. S.S is single shot is it?
