Watch Thai TV from anywhere in the world.

Postby sweetnothings » Fri Aug 14, 2009 7:24 pm

Learners of Thai can pick up the language faster by watching Thai TV. I learned English very quickly by watching a lot of English TV programs. Now, you can watch Thai TV on the Internet, no matter where you are, so long as you have a high-speed Internet connection, using the url’s below. Thai expatriates will find these url’s useful too.

To watch these channels clearly, the speed of your Internet connection must be at least 1 Mbps. This speed, I mean international connection, not local connection. Those who live outside Thailand may find it strange when I say international and local connections. Well, most ISP’s in Thailand offer different speeds for local and international connections.

This is what you do: Just copy any of the above url’s and paste it in the Internet Explorer address bar. You will notice that it takes you to that TV channel alright, but it opens Windows Media Player. So, you might as well forget about the Internet Explorer.

You just open Windows Media Player (while being connected to the Internet, of course). Right click your mouse (on the dark part of the edge, not the white part in the middle). Choose ‘File’ and click ‘Open URL’. Copy and paste a url in the Open URL box. Click OK. The TV will come on. Actually, you can save these url’s in the Windows Media Player.

*****Note: I edited this post on Thu Sep 17, 2009 to say that:

Seeing that some people had tried my url's for Thai TV and found that they didn't work, I have conducted some investigations and come up with the solutions. Please read my message below, which was written on the same day (Thu Sep 17, 2009 5:55 am), and you will definitely be able to watch TV programs from Thailand and many other countries in the world.

I'm surprised to hear that some people had tried my url's for Thai TV and found that they didn't work. I've just tested those url's again and found that they worked perfectly OK for me. I tried to find out the causes of problems, and now I know.

Let me explain why some of the url's above don't work. And how you can get them to work.

Take a look at the first two of them, for example:

rtsp://202.43.34.236/TPBS

rtsp://202.43.34.236/5

ููIf you put any of them in your browser, it will not work. But if you put each one of them in your Windows Media Player according to my instructions above, it will work OK.

Why? Very simple. I went to this website

http://wwitv.com/portal.htm

and from there I watched TV programs from all over the world, including Thai TV of 30 channels.

I didn't feel like going to this site all the time, so I used some special software to detect the hidden url's, and when I got those url's I used them on my Windows Media Player successfully without actually testing them on my browsers. It means if some of you guys enter certain url's in the browser they may not work.

Solutions:

To watch TV programs from Thailand or other countries in the world, you go to

http://wwitv.com/portal.htm

or if you want to make sure that all the above url's work OK for Thai TV, you put each one of them in your Windows Media Player according to my instructions above, not in your browser, all of them should work OK, but bear in mind the time in Thailand also.

Note: Your Internet speed must be at least 1 Mbps for international connection for this TV viewing method to work.

Cheers

The tech glitches disrupting Thai TV are the shows they broadcast. Thaicom Plc must take responsibility for the television blackout that triggered rumours of a coup, Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban says.

I am in the U.S. now and I find that the most robust internet connection is at http://live.thaipbs.or.th/ . Note that I am not referring to the quality of the news, just to the quality of the connection.

Let me know if you find other news connections which can be accessed from overseas.
