thai/ english song

Postby meythai » Wed Apr 11, 2012 7:34 am

for 35 years i have wanted to track down a song i heard back in my peace corps days. the song is half in english, half in thai, and probably refers to a thai girl's romance with a G.I. (soldier) as best i can remember here is some of the song:

"oh my darling, you ใจร้ายจริง
you say you love me, บัดนี้ you love ใคร ?
ev-e-lee (every) day I ว้าเหว่ ดวงใจ ..."

it's not much to go on but maybe someone remembers or can refer me to a website that might know the song title and the artist.

don't poo-poo this as non-music! it is an expression of genuine emotion at a time of great upheaval in both thai and american society!

thanks in advance!

A quick Google search turns up "มายดาร์ลิ่ง", with versions performed by กุ้ง สุธิราช and ดอน สอนระเบียบ (not sure which is the original).

PS Actually, I don't think either singer is that old. Perhaps both are covers. The title should be enough to go by though.

ดอน สอนระเบียบ sang the original version which probably around thirty years back.

He sang quite a lot of songs which were from foreign songs.

This is one of his song from the English song "999999 tears", it's from 1977.

I can understand how it feels to be able to find the song. I managed to find the very first Thai song I listened and loved over 25 years ago when I first visited Thailand and started the interest in the language. The only line I picked up was the title line, but since it was such a popular sing-along song, I found it rather easily after I eventually learnt how to input Thai font in the computer. I also found this new version of the old favourite and just as the song's title, I fall in love with it all over again, it's my new favourite now.
I like the first clip more but the second clip has karaoke subtitle, so more useful for learning the words.
