In looking for a response to a question raised at ThaiVisa (http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/599 ... y-in-thai/), I came across the following. The translation is mine:

หน้าที่ที่ต้องปฏิบัติต่อกันของสามี-ภรรยา
Responsibilities and duties as between an husband and wife

เมื่อผ่านขั้นตอนการเลือกคู่แล้ว การอยู่ร่วมกันเป็นสามีภรรยา ทั้งคู่จะต้องมีหน้าที่ที่ต้องปฏิบัติต่อกัน ดังนี้
Once the process of choosing a mate is done, in living together as husband and wife each has responsibilities and duties to perform.

สามีมีหน้าที่ 5 ประการ
The husband has five duties:

1. ให้ความนับถือ ยอมรับฐานะแห่งภรรยา
To respect and accept the status of his wife
2. ยกย่องให้เกียรติ ไม่ดูหมิ่นเหยียดหยาม
To esteem and honor (his wife) and not to disrespect or show contempt toward her
3. มีความซื่อสัตย์ ไม่นอกใจ
To be honest and not be adulterous
4. มอบความเป็นใหญ่
To grant [his wife] a real sense of importance (in his life)
5. หาเครื่องประดับ เครื่องแต่งกายมามอบให้
To pick out jewelry and clothing to give to [her]

ภรรยามีหน้าที่ 5 ประการ
The wife has five duties:

1. จัดดูแลงานบ้านให้เรียบร้อย
To design, create, and take care of the household in a proper manner
2. ใส่ใจสงเคราะห์คนข้างเคียงของสามี
To take an interest in and support those who are close to her husband.
3. ซื่อสัตย์ ไม่ประพฤติผิดนอกใจ
To be honest and faithful and not have affairs or act outside the marriage
4. ช่วยประหยัดดูแลรักษาทรัพย์ที่หามาได้
To be frugal and look after the family’s assets and accumulated wealth.
5. ขยัน ไม่เกียจคร้านในงานทั้งปวง
To be diligent and not be lazy in performing any of her duties.

Looks good to me David. Just a couple of suggestion for alternative words:
2. ยกย่องให้เกียรติ ไม่ดูหมิ่นเหยียดหยาม
To esteem and honor (his wife) and not to disrespect or show contempt toward her
To praise and honor (his wife) and not to disrespect or show contempt toward her

3. มีความซื่อสัตย์ ไม่นอกใจ
To be honest and not be adulterous
To be faithful and not be adulterous
Faithful fits better as a contrast to adulterous.

Further on, the site says,

"สามีภรรยาเป็นบุคคลที่พึ่งเป็นพึ่งตายซึ่งกันและกัน ฉะนั้น พระพุทธเจ้าจึงทรงสั่งสอนให้มีความซื่อสัตย์ต่อกัน ไม่ประพฤตินอกใจกันและกัน"

I wonder about the first sentence. Do you think the phrase "พึ่งเป็นพึ่งตายซึ่งกันและกัน" is of a meaning similar to the marriage liturgy in the Book of Common Prayer, " 'till death do us part"?

Thus, the sentence might be rendered in English,

"Husbands and wives are individuals wedded to and are dependent on each other until death. The Buddha instructs [married couples] to be faithful to one another and not give their hearts to anyone else." (to use the more literal meaning to "นอกใจ")
