Tutor, language school to prepare for thai language exam

Postby dan_dan_dan » Tue Sep 24, 2013 5:50 am

I lived in Thailand for couple of years. Can speak Thai, read and write at what I would call intermediate level . Does anyone have experience in passing thai language exam? How did you prepare? Would you recommend any tutor or school in Bangkok? Are there any test samples online?

Well, there is no . test given to foreigners anymore :( and there hasn't been for a fair few years. :? .

Instead they give a Thai language proficiency test; where you're judged against the other people taking the test. This gives some suspect grading :o .. If you take the test with a room full of retards  , you might score in the really high percentiles :D . Conversely if you take it with a bunch of "asian-ninja-thai-learners" :? you might score lower than your actual ability is  .

Almost ANY schools which teaches via the old Union methodology, or schools I call "Union clones" offer a class which runs 4 or 6 weeks and preps you for the test.
UTL, Rak Thai Language, Sumaa Thai, Piammitr, Nisa Thai, etc, I think all offer the course.

From what I hear the new test is quite similar to the old . test, your just not graded on what a Thai sixth grader would know, but as I said, against what the other people taking the test know...

I'm sure some other more learned posters will come on and post more about it. :)
