I'm wondering about the meaning of the phrase ผ่าความจริง.

Here's the context:

“พจนานุกรมคงจะเล่มเล็กลงๆ เพราะหลายคำพูดไม่ได้ ไม่ว่าจะเป็น อีโง่ แรด หรือ กะหรี่”
"The dictionary will probably have to be reduced in size, since there are many words we cannot use, such as 'stupid bitch', 'rhinoceros' and 'curry'.

This rhetoric from the Leader of the Opposition Abhisit Vejjajiva during an on-stage address [cleave the truth] on the 15th September 2013 is an issue worth thinking about.

What is not clear to me is whether the phrase is neutral ('getting at the truth'), positive('laying bare the truth'), or negative('mangling the truth'). A subsequent thought I had was that it might be similar to the English expression 'splitting hairs'.

The overall sentiment of the article is negative; a subsequent sentence reads:

การใช้คำหยาบคายเหล่านี้ความสำคัญไม่ได้อยู่ที่พจนานุกรมบรรจุไว้หรือไม่
[Regarding] the use of this kind of vulgar language, the importance does not depend on whether the dictionary contains the word or not.

They are not talking about rhinos and currys.

In the very same article, have a look at this paragraph:

ส่วนคำว่า แรด ถ้าเป็นคำกริยา หมายถึงดัดจริต และคำว่า กะหรี่ ระบุว่าหมายถึง โสเภณี

As for ผ่าความจริง, it's the name of this on-stage program, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQVqzZjKUjc (I couldn't find Abhisit talking, but it's the same day as they are talking about in the article you supplied). And I'm pretty sure it means to "open up" the truth.. เอาความจริงออกมาเปิดเผย

There are a lot of interesting words in the article which I am not clear on and the first one is ปราศรัย, both noun and verb mean the same; การพูดด้วยไมตรีจริต, การแสดงอัชณาสัยระหว่างผูใหญ่ต่อผูน้อยหรือผูที่เสมอกัน so, does that mean that the ex PM is answering a charge or telling his audience?
I wonder if the translation of ผ่าความจริง might depend on ปราศรัย.
There are no quotation marks which makes me think that เวทีปราศรัยผ่าความจริง is not a special title of an occasion. Is it a press conference or equivalent?
