The meaning may be the same, but Nan, the native speaker, is tell us how the phrase is stated in a more elegant and graceful manner.

I would also say that "แสงสว่างขจัดความมืดมิด สติปัญญาขจัดความเขลา" might be rendered in English as a simile in parallel form:

"Just as light dispels darkness, so does wisdom dispel ignorance."

I wonder if ความอวิชชา might not be a better choice than ความเขลา? In English, ignorance and stupidity are not necessarily synonymous. Does the same distinction exist in Thai?

In a similar vein, the following quote shows up in Matichon Weekend this past week, page 6:

"ความมืดมิดมิอาจขับไล่ความมืดมิด เพียงแสงสว่างเท่านั้นที่ทำได้
Darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only light can do that.

ความเกลียดชังมิอาจขับไล่ความเกลียดชัง เพียงแต่ความรักที่ทำได้
Hate cannot drive out hate. Only live can do that."
