"receiving" a massage: รับ?

Postby Gwindor » Tue Sep 26, 2017 5:10 pm

Is รับ the correct verb to use to say "I want to get a massage", i.e., "อยากรับการนวด" ?
thanks

Gwindor,

Look at the sample sentences under http://www.thai-language.com/id/133233 . You will see that some sentences use the word นวด in the receiving sense, rather than from the perspective of the masseuse. The last sentence, however, does use the phrase "รับการนวด".

Thanks. I have heard นวด used in the sense of "getting massaged" but I guess I've been afraid to use it that way.

This seems prettty much in line with English usage.

If you say "I'd like a massage", it's understood you mean that you want to receive one, rather than give one, unless you go to very unusual venues.
