I suppose that ใจ is the cross-over between the physical and the abstract, การคิด, ไม่เอาใจใส could be said to be apparent to an observer, in the right context. From Longdo, ignore is ทำเพิกเฉย so I can make การเพิกเฉยข้อเท็จจริง หรือความรู้ "ignoring what you know to be true. Is that what you mean by "wilful ignorance" ?
If so that just leaves การไม่รู้เรื่องรู้ราว for which I would appreciate more help.

I found ความเขลา as a definition of 'ignorance'. Dull witted, การไม่รู้เรื่อง could be that I suppose.
Edit: In his ignorance he asked where her husband was.
Note: Her husband died recently.
That would be ไม่รู้เรื่อง would it not?

I apologize for my previous deletion, it's only that sometimes I post when i've been in the beers,
and then in the morning still foggy assume I must have said something stupid. I value this forum
and every forum of Thai language learning. Please accept my above 'approximation' of Thai as a token.

I just finished Mana Manii II , even though it took "years" to complete I am pushing into grade III.
I probably spend too much time working on pronunciation, but then i don't have the immediate needs of language as would someone with a Thai relationship or an expat who's occupation requires communication .
I learn only to accommodate interaction with Thai's as i meet them ambling about the kingdom.
Again sorry if i was rude.

Any critique of above Attempted Thai would be valuable thanks.

I woud be delighted to discuss Thai with you but fear that my approach may be too theoretical for you.
The Mani-Mana stories are probably a great place to start because if one can study them from the point of view of grammar the fact of the stories being childish won't make them boring. To speak one needs to use Thai expressions and sentences, they can be learnt phrase-book style or grammatically. Grammar horrifies many people so let me give an example.
"I don't think that I like him." You either like him or you don't so "I don't like him" Think softens "don't like" saying that you are not commited, open to changing your opinion. Maybe it should be "I think that I don't like him So to say this in Thai ignore 'think. (ผม)ไม่ชอบเขา (or เค้า in 'comic book style).
'I' is often ommited when obvious. "Don't like him" is the word for word version and perfectly inderstandable in English too.
If you have words to show that you are not sure you might try ไม่แน่ใจว่าผมชอบเขาหรือเปล่า and look for correction.


ขอโทษพี่ชายไม่คือนี่ Sorry elder-male-sibling is not this.
คือ says 'is,' similar to เป็น, and is the type of verb needing nouns before and after, noun=noun is what it says to me.
Like the Irishman who, when asked for directions, said " if I wanted to go there, I wouldn't start from here." I would say that If I wanted to learn Thai I wouldn't start with something written in English.
