I looked through the "student work" website looking at the "parts of speech" or "word type" sections. I was unable to see where the authors discuss verbal adjectives which serve as the main verb in the sentence. It is as if the words are attributable to no category. Did you find the discussion at that site?

Can you give an example of this verbal adjective, 'frightening' is an English น่ากลัว but I can't see this as a verb in Thai. ทำให้ before the verb? Stop frightening him.

I don't know either.
Anyway these are all noun phrases; noun plus adjective.
โอโป รถคันนี้แดงจัด This car is very red.
เขาเก่งเหลือเดิน He is clever beyond reasonableness.
ราคาบัานหลังนี้แพงจังเลย The price of this house is beyond just expensive.

That is precisely his point. Stative predicates - predicative adjectives don't take an explicit copula; they behave like verbs.

They are *NOT* noun phrases.

Gosh, why didn't you say so earlier it would have cleared up so much confusion. So what you are saying is that something which is strange in English happens all the time in Thai and goes unremarked. (The other day when I said that ฉลาด was not a verb it went unremarked.)
Can you show me an example of a stative predicate in English so I can see what it is, purely for curiosities sake of course.

Again, our lodestone, กำลัย ทองหล่อ comes to the rescue with a clear explanation, in his section on "คำวิเศษณ์":

"V. Comment: A modifier, in addition to being associated with a noun or pronoun, verb or another modifier, may also serve as an intransitive verb as well, for example,
หมายเหตุ คำวิเศษณ์ นอกจากทำหน้าที่ประกอบนาม สรรพนาม กริยา วิเศษณ์ แล้วยังทำหน้าที่เป็นอกรรมกริยาได้ด้วย เช่น

คนที่ดีจะต้องมีศีลธรรม
A good person [person who is good], must also have morality.
