My interest in the Thai language is of a practical nature. My son married a Thai women and now has a nearly 1 year old daughter who will be taught the Thai language (in addition to English) by her mother.

Are you planning a trip to Thailand?

I don't have any plans at this point to travel to Thailand.

My son, his wife and daughter are planning a trip back to Thailand this year. His wife's mother has only seen her new granddaughter only through Facetime and photos. My son has had a few trips to Thailand prior to this.

I think at this point I'm trying to at least understand some of the common Thai expressions, recognize the Thai alphabet. The tonal nature of their language is not something that is easily learned. I guess if one has perfect pitch then it is not as much of a problem.

I have been visiting the Thai-language website for several years and find it quite extensive and educational. It will be a lot more convenient now that I will be able to customize the look/feel of the website and have my settings saved.
