translating...

hello all, I was wondering what kind of work there was in Thailand as far as translating goes. My Thai is not good enough yet, but here in a few years I think it might be sufficient. I've heard you can find work in the embassy, but I'd like to know what other options are available. Also, I've heard there are different "levels" of Thai. How do you figure out which "level" of Thai you're in? Also, is there any money in translating? I'm a teacher now, how does a translator's salary compare to a teacher's salary? I know there are many Thais that speak English, but how many N.E.S.'s are able to translate Thai into English and vice versa? -maybe the number is a lot higher than I think. Anyway, thanks all in advance.
