hello, I am making a new app to be released on iPhone and I am looking for some background music that is of a cultural nature, e.g. Isan music, Hammered dulcimer, like that in this picture:
I would be willing to license clean recordings of the music, bearing in mind that I don't expect to ever make a profit on the product, although the app is of very high quality.
regards,
keny

The store that sells traditional Thai music in Bangkok that I am aware of is Suksaphan at the Democracy Monument:
ร้านศึกษาภัณฑ์พาณิชย์ราชดำเนิน
69 อาคาร 9 ถนนราชดำเนินกลาง แขวงบวรนิเวศ เขตพระนคร กทม. 10200
ที่ตั้ง บริเวณหัวมุมอนุสาวรีย์ประชาธิปไตย ฝั่งโรงเรียนสตรีวิทยา
โทร. 0 2629 1910 - 1
Here are some CDs that I have:
ขลุ่ยยามเย็น (Thai Classical Music - Klue Solo) 190 baht, 8-852734-300091
สร้อยแสงแดง (Thai Classical Music), 150 baht
ดนตรีไทยเดิม ปี่พาทย์ไม้แข็งวงใหญ่, 190 baht
เพลงไทยเดิมขับร้อง, ต้นฉบับโบราณ, 190 baht, 8-855141-052614 (Vocals)
And, a recent acquisition, a two CD set of not classical Thai music but of traditional Northeastern music:
Rhythms of I-sarn, Music of Northeast of Thailand, AI Double CD 2008-19, 8-853839-000268
I have found that the staff at the music shop at Suksaphan to be very helpful. They will assist you in finding what you are looking for.

Thanks dave/bui!! Good to hear from you! My biggest concern is using someone else's copyrighted music without the original artist's approval...
I was at suksaphan at ekkamai its a great place.

Does the Ekamai location have a separate music store, like the Ratdamnern store does?

It's been a while but I do remember them having piles of CD's and other random instruments in addition to lots of thai language books.
