Receiving gifts

My female Thai friend brought me to a tourist attraction and our photo was taken by a photographer n framed. She bought me the photo frame but I left it at her place intentionally. She asked me why I didn't bring back to my country n I didn't know how to answer her. In Thai culture, am I being very rude by not accepting the photo frame?

Hi Angler, I think maybe she just asked curiously, or she might feel awkward because her kindness of preparing the frame has been thrown away. Anyway, you can directly ask her if she feel awkward, thank her for her gesture and tell her your reason for leaving the photo frame. But there is no rule saying that not accepting photo frame is rude as far as I know. Do you want to learn more about Thai culture? You may find a Thai phrasebook very helpful: http://www.hnhsoft.com. Good luck! :D
