What do the blue flags mean?

Postby Mint » Sat Aug 01, 2009 4:27 am

Hi everyone. I've been travelling around Thailand for a while and recently (these few days), or perhaps I've never noticed it before, I'm seeing Thai flags along the road together with blue flags and yellow flags.

Or Thai flags & Yellow flags hoisted up high beside the perimeter of a factory or petrol kiosk together with blue flags with a logo. What does the blue and yellow flags represent?

Many thanks for anyone who can enlighten me.

The yellow flag represents the King as he was born on a Monday and the blue is for the Queen who was born on a Friday. Check it out here,

Thank you. So what determines who displays them and when do they display the flags? I only see the blue flags recently, or is it just me...

I'm not sure what protocol determines the showing of flags but from what I can remember I've always seen both flown together. HM Queen Sirikit's birthday will be celebrated on the 12th of this month so maybe people are getting ready for that day.
PS. Her Majesty was born in 1932.
