January 1, 2009: ÊÇÑÊ´Õ»ÕãËÁè Happy new year to everyone and thanks for another year of support and feedback. For Thailand and the economies of the world, there will be challenges ahead in 2009, but they are problems that can be solved when people come together, and bringing people together is what thai-language.com is all about.

Today I am excited to announce the release of a major update to this website's technology. The database core has been entirely rewritten from scratch in C#, a clean break from the original C++ code that was begun twelve years ago.

The database is now fully Unicode, and fully 'managed' by the .NET runtime environment, so lots of time-consuming internal conversions and transitions can be avoided. The database also uses LINQ extensively now. Because this foundational change was so extensive, it was best—for stability's sake—to keep the content and user interface of the site mostly unchanged during this period. However, the long-term goal of this modernization was certainly to facilitate future new content and I hope you'll join me in looking forward to exciting new Thai language features.

Thanks for visiting thai-language.com and I wish you the very best for 2009!
