November 2001 News Archive Oops; fixed a crashing bug in the server-side dictionary ActiveX object. Browsing by Thai letter now limits to 50 entries per page over as many pages as are required. Significant update to code and content. Some nested phrases are now implemented; browsing by letter has multiple pages with 50 words per page. Search accepts HTML quoted-printable Unicode Thai characters, as well as TIS-620 and Unicode. There are now 3032 entries in the dictionary, and most have been proofread for accuracy. Uploaded numerous new entries. There are some Thai spelling errors which I am aware of; these will be fixed shortly. Also implemented the first phase of a change to the internal structure of the dictionary database. In the new system, phrases can be composed of other phrases, in addition to definitions. This required a significant amount of internal modifications. There are no entries of this type yet. Problems with the guestbook and my live site monitor application were due to lingering NIMDA virus. I think I've finally cleaned the web server of this pest. "Neutral threading" designations for the various ActiveX objects were not being obeyed since they were in the wrong place in the registry. After fixing this, neutral threading now appears to be working. I'm not sure if the guestbook problem is related to this. There might be a bug in the guestbook ActiveX object. I have instrumented a new version for further testing. |
