June 2002 News Archive Now 12318 entries. Now 12227 entries. Altered database structure to allow for multiple classifiers per definition or phrase. More site monitor changes. On the inbound-side, got rid of the (1-week-old) pipes implementation by merging the probe COM object into the monitor service, forming a single component, a much simpler solution. Uploaded new entries, now 12071. Fixed a bug in the mail sending object, which is used for submitting corrections, the quick survey, and the guestbook. Now chunking socket calls to send(). The site monitor tool, although not visible to end users, is also undergoing major changes. It now does a remote DCOM call to the new IPNameLookup ActiveX object (implemented as a service) to resolve IP names. This service also maintains a cache of previously looked-up names. Various fixes in the transliterator, including new support for รร. Yet another complete rewrite of the site monitor, now uses message-mode named pipes (previously was raw TCP/IP winsock 2), fully overlapped-synchronized i/o. Finally found the real problem with the previous crashing. The ASP probe ActiveX object no longer has to manage client connections, so it no longer retains any captive threads; instead all events are relayed through the monitor service, which manages client connections. |
