เรียกลมที่พัดจากทิศตะวันตกเฉียงใต้ไปทางทิศตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือในปลายฤดูฝนว่า ลมสลาตัน, เรียกลมพายุที่มีกำลังแรงจัดทุกชนิด เช่น ไต้ฝุ่น ไซโคลน ว่า ลมสลาตัน, โดยปริยายใช้เป็นความเปรียบเทียบหมายถึงอาการที่ไป มา หรือเกิดขึ้นรวดเร็วอย่างลมสลาตัน เช่น เวลาเขาโกรธอย่างกับลมสลาตัน.
