Have you every heard that spiders beat their chests?

Sometimes, something we don’t understand causes spiders (those which hang onto or walk along the wall of our houses) to beat their chests against the walls and make a snapping sound.

Our ancestors tell us that whenever [the spiders make this noise], something bad is about to happen in that house or to some one in that house.

And, [the bad think that might happen to some one in that house] might even result in the death of that person.

So, when spiders beat their chests, it is a harbinger that many people fear.

But, truthfully, [this activity by spiders] is not a bad omen at all.

Spiders beating their chests on a wall to produce large noises is a natural phenomenon to intimidate and threaten their enemies.
phrawH maaengM moomM bpenM satL khaL naatL lekH
[This is] because a spider is a small animal.

It has few weapons to fight with, save for the fact that some species of spiders are highly poisonous.

When [the spider] sees something strange pass by, it beats itself against the wooden wall so as to make loud noises to frighten its enemy or ward off danger.

[Its] enemy would hesitate and would not approach [the spider] to do it harm.

Thumping its chest is a what a spider does instinctively.

[Spiders] are yet another one of earth’s creatures which loves its own life, just like mankind does.
