การไหว้เป็นประเพณีอย่างหนึ่งของชาวไทย  gaanM waiF bpenM bpraL phaehM neeM yaangL neungL khaawngR chaaoM thaiM | The act of the “wai” or paying respect is a Thai tradition. |
| ถือกันว่าเด็กหรือผู้น้อยควรไหว้ผู้ใหญ่ก่อน และคนธรรมดาควรไหว้พระ theuuR ganM waaF dekL reuuR phuuF naawyH khuaanM waiF phuuF yaiL gaawnL laeH khohnM thamM maH daaM khuaanM waiF phraH | It is our custom that children or persons of a lower status are supposed to “wai” their seniors first, and laypersons are obliged to “wai” monks. |
| ถ้าท่านเป็นผู้ไหว้ท่านควรก้มศีรษะเล็กน้อย ยกมือทั้งสองขึ้นประนมให้ปลายนิ้วชี้จดปลายจมูก thaaF thanF bpenM phuuF waiF thanF khuaanM gohmF seeR saL lekH naawyH yohkH meuuM thangH saawngR kheunF bpraL nohmM haiF bplaaiM niuH cheeH johtL bplaaiM jaL muukL | If you are the person initiating the “wai” you should lift both hands, palms facing each other, and the tip of the index finger touching the tip of your nose. |

| หากท่านเป็นผู้รับไหว้ ท่านเพียงยกมือประนมตอบ แต่มือที่ประนมไม่จำเป็นจะต้องอยู่สูงเหมือนอย่างผู้ไหว้ haakL thanF bpenM phuuF rapH waiF thanF phiiangM yohkH meuuM bpraL nohmM dtaawpL dtaaeL meuuM theeF bpraL nohmM maiF jamM bpenM jaL dtawngF yuuL suungR meuuanR yaangL phuuF waiF | If you are the person receiving the “wai”, you merely lift your hands with the same gesture in response but you need not lift your hands as high as the person who initiates the “wai” gesture. |

| ๑. เมื่อมีคนไหว้ท่าน ท่านควรไหว้ตอบ neungL meuuaF meeM khohnM waiF thanF thanF khuaanM waiF dtaawpL | 1. When someone pays you respect by a 'wai', you should respond with a 'wai'. |
| ๒. ก้มหลังน้อย ๆ เมื่อเดินผ่านผู้ใหญ่ saawngR gohmF langR naawyH naawyH meuuaF deernM phaanL phuuF yaiL | 2. Bend down a bit when walking past a person senior to you. |
| ๓. ใช้มือขวารับและส่งของ saamR chaiH meuuM khwaaR rapH laeH sohngL khaawngR | 3. Use your right hand when receiving or giving things [to another person]. |
| ๔. รวบช้อนส้อมเสีย เมื่อรับประทานอาหารเสร็จแล้ว seeL ruaapF chaawnH saawmF siiaR meuuaF rapH bpraL thaanM aaM haanR setL laaeoH | 4. Put your fork and spoon together [on your plate] when you have finished eating. |
| ๕. เมื่อเข้าบ้าน ถอดรองเท้า แต่ไม่จำเป็นต้องถอดถุงเท้า haaF meuuaF khaoF baanF thaawtL raawngM thaaoH dtaaeL maiF jamM bpenM dtawngF thaawtL thoongR thaaoH | 5. When you enter the house, remove your shoes; but it is not necessary to remove your socks. |

| ๗. ปิดประตู หน้าต่างค่อย ๆ jetL bpitL bpraL dtuuM naaF dtaangL khaawyF khaawyF | 7. Close doors and windows gently and softly. |
| ๘. ยืนขึ้นเมื่อครูเข้าห้องเรียน bpaaetL yeuunM kheunF meuuaF khruuM khaoF haawngF riianM | 8. Stand up when the teacher enters the classroom. |
| ๑. อย่าใช้เท้าเล่นกับผู้อื่น neungL yaaL chaiH thaaoH lenF gapL phuuF euunL | 1. Do not use your feet to touch or play with others. |
| ๒. อย่าใช้เท้าชี้ หรือเตะของส่งให้ผู้อื่น saawngR yaaL chaiH thaaoH cheeH reuuR dtehL khaawngR sohngL haiF phuuF euunL | 2. Do not use your feet to point or to kick something to others. |
| ๓. อย่าเหยียดเท้าไปทางผู้ใหญ่ saamR yaaL yiiatL thaaoH bpaiM thaangM phuuF yaiL | 3. Do not stick your feet out toward your seniors. |
| ๔. อย่านั่งไขว่ห้าง หรือเอาเท้าวางบนโต๊ะ seeL yaaL nangF khwaiL haangF reuuR aoM thaaoH waangM bohnM dtoH | 4. Do no sit with your leg crossed over your knee nor should you put your feet up on the table. |
| ๕. อย่านั่งสูงกว่าผู้ใหญ่ haaF yaaL nangF suungR gwaaL phuuF yaiL | 5. Do not sit in a position higher than your seniors. |
| ๖. อย่าจับหัวผู้อื่น hohkL yaaL japL huaaR phuuF euunL | 6. Do not touch another person's head. |
| ๗. อย่าส่งของหรือหยิบของข้ามหัวผู้อื่น jetL yaaL sohngL khaawngR reuuR yipL khaawngR khaamF huaaR phuuF euunL | 7. Do not pass or take anything over other people's heads. |
| ๘. อย่าเดินกินขนม หรืออาหาร bpaaetL yaaL deernM ginM khaL nohmR reuuR aaM haanR | 8. Do not walk while eating. |
| ๙. อย่าเดินนำหน้าผู้ใหญ่ gaoF yaaL deernM namM naaF phuuF yaiL | 9. Do not walk along in front of someone senior to you. [Let them walk in front of you.] |
| ๑๐. อย่าเท้าสะเอว หรือเอามือไพล่หลัง sipL yaaL thaaoH saL aayoM reuuR aoM meuuM phlaiF langR | 10. Do not cross your arms akimbo or cross your arms behind your back. |
| ๑๑. อย่าตักอาหารทีละมาก ๆ sipL etL yaaL dtakL aaM haanR theeM laH maakF maakF | 11. Do not scoop out large amounts of food [to put in your plate]. |
| ๑๒. อย่าเลียนิ้ว sipL saawngR yaaL liiaM niuH | 12. Do not lick your fingers. |
| ๑๓. อย่าแสดงความรักในที่สาธารณะ sipL saamR yaaL saL daaengM khwaamM rakH naiM theeF saaR thaaM raH naH | 13. Do not show affection in public. |
| ๑๔. อย่าถูกเนื้อต้องตัวผู้หญิงที่ท่านไม่รู้จักดี sipL seeL yaaL thuukL neuuaH dtawngF dtuaaM phuuF yingR theeF thanF maiF ruuH jakL deeM | 14. Do not touch the skin of a woman whom you do not know well. |
